International & Expat Tax Filings

US returns for people who live, work, or hold accounts outside the United States, including foreign income and account reporting.

What's included

  • Foreign earned income exclusion (Form 2555) and foreign housing exclusion
  • Foreign tax credit (Form 1116) to avoid double taxation
  • FBAR filing (FinCEN 114) for foreign accounts over $10,000 combined
  • FATCA foreign asset reporting (Form 8938)
  • Part-year and dual-status returns for moves in or out of the US
  • Coordination with tax advisors in the other country when needed

US taxes follow you abroad

The United States taxes its citizens and green card holders on their worldwide income, no matter where they live. Working overseas, even for a foreign government or international organization, usually still means filing a US return. The good news is that exclusions and credits often reduce or eliminate the US tax owed, but only if the right forms are filed.

Foreign accounts have their own deadlines

If the total in your foreign accounts was over $10,000 at any point in the year, you generally need to file an FBAR, separate from your tax return. Penalties for missing it can be steep. We'll review your accounts and file everything on time.
